Helping Hand Rescue Mission Community Outreach Center
Loving, Serving, and Giving in our beautiful Huntington Station community (and beyond) since 1965.

We’re grateful to share that our Community Kitchen has received its Certificate of Occupancy. A final mechanical adjustment is currently being addressed with our insurance company, after which we will schedule the required Health Department inspection.
We appreciate the continued support of our community as we complete these final steps and look forward to serving in this space as soon as all approvals are in place.
Sharing The Love & Hope
All Winter Long
We believe love changes lives. Through compassion, service, and faith in action, we share hope with individuals and families—reminding them they are seen, valued, and never alone.
If You've Volunteered during these cold, wintry days,Thank You!
On these cold days, when the wind bites and the temperatures drop, we are especially grateful for our volunteers who still show up with open hearts and willing hands. You’ve sorted, stocked, packed, carried, listened, and loved—sometimes bundled in layers, sometimes tired, always faithful. Your presence has brought warmth where it was needed most, reminding our community that compassion doesn’t take a snow day. Thank you for standing in the gap, for serving with grace, and for being the hands and feet of love when it matters most. We truly could not do this without you.

About Us
The Mission was founded in 1965 by Reverend J.A. Gaines, his wife, Reverend Rose Marie Gaines, and her mother, Florence E. Meringola. After witnessing local poverty and food insecurity first hand, they invested everything that they had into building Helping Hand Rescue Mission with the view that if they could help even one person it was worth it. They sacrificed much to build a strong community center and leave a legacy of Loving, Serving, and Giving as witness to the love of God to be carried on. Their prayer was for the HHRM to remain a "lighthouse" in our community.
