Thanksgiving is a time to gather around the table, share a meal, and count our blessings. But for many families right here in our community, putting a Thanksgiving dinner on the table can be a financial challenge. At Helping Hand Rescue Mission, we believe every family deserves the opportunity to celebrate the holiday with dignity, joy, and the comfort of knowing their neighbors care. That's why our Fill a Box, Feed a Family initiative is about so much more than collecting food. It's about bringing hope, easing burdens, and reminding families that they are not alone.
This year, our goal is to fill 1,500 Thanksgiving food boxes for local families in need. Each box represents a family, a table, and an opportunity to make someone's holiday a little brighter. When individuals, families, churches, schools, and businesses come together to fill these boxes, the impact reaches far beyond Thanksgiving Day. Every donated item is an expression of kindness, every filled box is a reminder of the power of community, and every family served is part of a larger story of neighbors helping neighbors. Together, we are doing more than feeding families. We are building a stronger, more compassionate community, one box and one act of love at a time.
Will you help us fill all 1,500 boxes? Pick up an empty box, fill it with the requested Thanksgiving food items, and return it to Helping Hand Rescue Mission. Whether you fill one box or one hundred, your generosity makes a difference.

As we welcome the beauty and coming changes of fall, we are especially grateful for our volunteers who continue to serve with open hearts and willing hands. Through busy days and every new challenge, you sort, stock, pack, carry, listen, encourage, and love, making a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Fall is a season filled with activity at Helping Hand Rescue Mission. As children return to school and families prepare for colder weather and the approaching holidays, the need for food, clothing, household essentials, and compassionate support continues to grow. Your faithful service helps ensure that no family has to face a difficult season alone.
In the months ahead, we look forward to our fall programs, Thanksgiving outreach, Christmas events, Baby Blessings, food distributions, and many other opportunities to serve our community. We enter this busy season with grateful hearts, knowing that you are part of every meal shared, every coat given, every child blessed, and every family encouraged.

About Us
The Mission was founded in 1965 by Reverend J.A. Gaines, his wife, Reverend Rose Marie Gaines, and her mother, Florence E. Meringola. After witnessing local poverty and food insecurity first hand, they invested everything that they had into building Helping Hand Rescue Mission with the view that if they could help even one person it was worth it. They sacrificed much to build a strong community center and leave a legacy of Loving, Serving, and Giving as witness to the love of God to be carried on. Their prayer was for the HHRM to remain a "lighthouse" in our community.

Food Pantry at HHRM
The Helping Hand Rescue Mission Pantry is serving 200+ families per week with non-perishable and fresh produce, fruit, meat, eggs, milk and bread as available. Thank you for helping!
Baby Blessings Celebrates 10 Years!
Since the fall of 2017, Baby Blessings continues to provide over 150 families each month with children under 3, diapers, baby clothes, other baby supplies, and continental breakfast. It is hosted by Helping Hand Rescue Mission at the Huntington Assembly of God every third Tuesday of the month unless otherwise noted. Partners include Family Service League and Allied Foundation. We are planning a special September Baby Blessings with a baby shower theme and so much fun!
